Occupational Therapists recommend that a weighted blanket be 10% of the user’s body weight. This has the most calming effect and is safe for use. If you are between sizes or want to allow a child room for growth, please choose the next size up.

The more oversized blankets require a heavier weight to give the same calming Deep Pressure Touch effect as the weight is spread over a wider area.

The maximum weight for a blanket is 8 kg. Weighted blankets should NOT be used for someone under the age of 4 years without supervision.

For each order, the SPA team carefully selects a complementary backing material to suit your chosen fabric. This ensures that your blanket is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.

We may need additional backing material for Double blankets and larger custom Panel designs to achieve the correct width and length for your selected size. Rest assured, we will always use a high-quality fabric that complements the overall design and ensures the durability of your blanket.

For Queen—and King-sized blankets, please note that they are constructed in two parts and joined using 'Hook and Loop' strips at regular intervals. These strips are made of high-quality, durable materials to ensure the longevity of your blanket.

This design decision is made because larger, heavier blankets can become too cumbersome for domestic washing machines and may not be suitable for machine washing.

By creating them in two separate, manageable pieces, we aim to make your blanket easier to care for while maintaining its functionality and comfort.

Our queen-size and king-size blankets are joined down the middle with Velcro. This allows you to separate the two halves for cleaning, as most machines cannot handle more than 5kg at a time.

Our products are all made to order. We commonly receive requests to alter the weight installed in both toys and blankets. This means the typical turnaround time is between 15 and 25 business days.

Due to a high volume of orders, we are currently processing orders in a 25-35 day turnaround.

If you require it for a birthday or event, please add a note with the date so that we can ensure it arrives on time.

The team at SPA will do our best to make your order within these time frames. However, there are times when we process large orders for medical and government clients, as well as high volumes of orders.
