The Moon is our closest celestial body and can easily be seen from Earth. However, the moon isn’t on fire but rather is illuminated by the sun’s light. As the Moon orbits the Earth, it will be positioned differently in relation to the Sun each night.

As a result, different shapes of the Moon will appear when viewed from the Earth. With each different moon shape, there is a name to identify it (8 in total) - New Moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full Moon, waning gibbous, last quarter, waning crescent.

The interactive learning board features buttons that, when pressed, illuminate the phase and name of the moon type, as well as the Moon’s position relative to the Sun. Children will find this fascinating.
